I live in a town in Northern England called Sheffield. You may be aware that it has been a bit rainy in Sheffield. In fact, it's quite likely you've heard that Sheffield (along with a considerable portion of the rest of Britain) is currently in large part submerged. When I left my house at 8 pm on Monday night, the basement was full of water and the street was a torrent. My wellies got filled with unspeakable slime, but with the help of good friends, I and the kids got to a safe (and elevated) place. Full story when I have access to a computer again. The photo above isn't very illustative but it's the only one I took before I realised that getting out was more urgent than getting pictures. If you have been affected, I wish you the very best of luck getting your life and your home back together. Thanks to everyone who left kind thoughts in the comments. If you are visiting Knit Wrong from the Sheffield Forum knitting group, firstly I hope you're ok, and secondly, please accept this post as my apology for being a no show tomorrow night.

Sarah, I hope that you're back in business soon. I heard your area mentionned and even thought about asking you but never for a moment did I think that you might really have been hit with it. I'm so thankful that our lake is at a distance rather than up close.
Thinking about you Madam, will keep in touch with your blog for an update.
Gosh, you poor things. glad you are safe and my thought are with everyone who has the dreadful experience of floods. x
Webbo! I hope you're ok! Thinking of all of you.....
Living near a major river luckily isn't as hazardous as living inland where the rivers and drains 'back up', etc. We've come off really lightly. So sorry to hear you've been flooded out and hope you're soon back home safe and sound. Take carex
Ugh! No fun at all!
I hope nothing has been badly damaged and the mess isn't to revolting.
Take care.
Hope everything is sorted out soon, and that the damage is easily repaired.
Hi Sarah, I'm very sorry to hear you're affected as well but I am happy to know that you and your family are safe.
Thinking of you. I know I'm in Devon but if I can do anything, please comment on m blog/pm me.
Take care, love to you and yours xxx
Oh crikey - you poor things - I thought of you when I saw Sheffield was badly affected but somehow thought you would be okay - maybe I thought the yarn would save your house. Hope that you get back home soon and that the damage is not too severe.
Sending you some Florida sunshine to dry up that horrible mess. I hope you find that your home is not too badly affected. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and others in Sheffield.
My stars, that's a lot of water! I hope that you, your family, your friends, your home and your yarn are all safe and dry.
Praying for Britain in Canada,

Ugh! What a mess! It looks like that tree is going to float away.
I sincerely hope that you're doing OK and that you didn't suffer too much damage at home. Take care!
I'm hoping that you are able to get home soon (and that there isn't too much damp stuff)
OMG I hope you are all ok, this weather has been awful. I am so sorry to hear that you have such an awful time. Take care!
Chin up, we're all in it together! My kitchen floor has been trashed by the floods and the cellar is a swimming pool but it could be worse. You take care and keep dry :)
Yikes! Thinking of you.
Sending you thoughts of safety and sunshine soon
Oh dear! I'll think dry thoughts for you. Be safe.
